Boutiques would like to be able to hide sold out items on the app. https://commentsold.com/admin/store/preferences -

planned
Escalating to regular dev to look at, and implement in the mobile app tab

This has come up before and here are some things we thought about, that I am curious your thoughts
1) If you had this, no one would be able to waitlist
2) The mobile app has filters (unlike product list or web) so that the customer can chose to hide sold out or not
Thoughts?

Brandon Kruse: Brandon Kruse: we should be able to control the default filters that show when customers open the app. I think as we are attracting new customers they should immediately see products that are IN STOCK ready to ship. And then as they get more comfortable, they will begin to play with filters and toggles and they can click SHOW ALL ITEMS (sold out items) and they can scroll items to waitlist.
I think the option should be up to us on the back end.
Brandon Kruse
Jason Zientarski: I think we can set the default filter on the mobile app with a shop setting that you can control
Limiting what the backend serves up to the app could be tricky, because it will remove shop the look posts by default
Jason Zientarski
Brandon Kruse: any updates on this?
Brandon Kruse
Jason Zientarski: had to escalate this to backend dev since it requires an app change. It won't be in this next release (live replay) but should be in the release after that. We're thinking of making it so that you can chose how you want the app to behave for the customer and even do it per-collection - where some collections you may want to show sold out vs not
Jason Zientarski
Brandon Kruse: yes. That would be ideal. In shopify we set each collection sort order individual.
Jason Zientarski
Brandon Kruse: just had another idea. What if we had the ability to create tabs / collections based on Inventory Quantity? In shopify we can set automatic rules that add any product with inventory greater than 0 to the collection. This would give us more more flexibility and even the ability to make a tab called “SOLD OUT” where customers could scroll through all the sold out items if they want to browse and randomly add some of those items to their waitlists! We would just set that tab to display all inventory with 0 quantity. And the others we would set to >0
That might be easier for you to program than to change a default filter setting.

I would like to be able to hide specific items and not others. For example my store is filling up with sold out items and I only want those that are really preorders to be Visible.

This is super needed! I’ve been going in at the end of the day every day and removing app posts with zero inventory.

Would be awesome if this defaulted for webstore and app
