Confirm there are not already settings or features that do what the shop is asking for:
  • Confirmed. There is currently no customer-facing feature that allows shoppers to select and pay for different shipping speeds at checkout. The only current workaround is manual—the shop must adjust the shipping carrier or priority on the backend after the order has already been placed.
What does the shop want the product to do:
  • The shop wants to add a shipping method selection step to the customer checkout flow. This would allow the shopper to choose their preferred delivery speed (e.g., Standard Shipping, Expedited Shipping, Overnight Shipping) and automatically be charged the correct corresponding shipping rate for that tier.
Why/how would it improve sales or efficiency:
  • Increased Sales: Offering expedited shipping options caters to last-minute shoppers or customers who need an item urgently for an event. Without guaranteed fast shipping options at checkout, these customers may abandon their carts and shop elsewhere.
  • Improved Efficiency: It completely automates the upgraded shipping process. Currently, if a customer wants overnight shipping, the shop has to handle it manually post-purchase (communicating with the buyer, manually upgrading the label on the backend, and manually invoicing the customer for the extra shipping cost). This feature would eliminate all of that administrative overhead.
